Fall is here and while much of the country is enjoying cooler temperatures and leaves changing colors, we just brace for up-and-down weather until March.

That means a lot of doctor visits and over-the-counter medicines for those of us who have a propensity to get sick over these next few months. And one of the most annoying parts of being this kind of sick is not being able to breathe through your nose.

Men's Health just put out a couple of tips to helping you breathe better when you're struggling to do so. Both only take a few seconds. The first one you can do anywhere and you'll want to wash your hands for the second one.

  1. Use your thumb to gently press between your eyebrows for three to four seconds. Then you'll let go and thrust your tongue against the roof of your mouth. This targets your ethmoid and vomer bones, which subtly shift back and forth and push fluid out of your sinuses.
  2. Shove your right pinky into the back side of your mouth, behind your last molar. You should feel a lot of fleshy tissue. Then push up toward your eye and cheek bone and hold it for three seconds. This will stimulate a group of nerves connected to your nasal cavity and is supposed to help drain fluid.

As someone who suffers from congestion nearly every day of my life, you better believe I'll try this. Can't hurt?!

Oh, and apparently it works best if you do these tricks every few hours.
