U-Haul is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to Lafayette residents who have been affected by the sudden flooding.

Many in the community have evacuated, and need a safe dry place for their property and belongings. A U-Haul rep says it feels like their role is to help in this time of need for the community.

It's been raining the last couple of days and there is more rain in the forecast; it looks like the tail end of a tropical depression is on top of the city. Our U-Haul stores are high and dry, but I know there are closed roads and neighborhoods that are flooded. Our role as a caring community member is to help in these situations. We are offering affected individuals and families a secure location to store their effects, free of charge for 30 days.

The two Lafayette locations participating in the 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box are:

3700 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.

Lafayette, LA 70503

(337) 993-9898

700 Kaliste Saloom Road
