UL Softball At Number Six In Latest RPI Standings

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun softball team is down, one spot, to number six, in this week’s college softball RPI (Rating Performance Index) rankings, which were released by the NCAA on Monday.

Louisiana, who has won 12-straight games, and 33 of their last 35, won their 11th Sun Belt Conference regular season championship in the last 13 years. They currently stand at 41-7-1 on the season, and will be the top-seed in the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship, which begins on Wednesday at Lamson Park.

Three schools from the SEC, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia are ranked 1-3, with UCLA,  and Oregon rounding out the top five.

Louisiana is number six, followed by Florida St., Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arizona St. at 7-10, respectively.

Arizona begins the second ten, at number 11, with Baylor, Tennessee, Washington, and Auburn in spots 12-15.

At 16-20, it’s Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, and LSU.

South Alabama, Texas A&M, James Madison, Tulsa, and Notre Dame round out the top 25 of this week’s RPI rankings.

The respective RPI’s for the eight Sun Belt Conference schools has Louisiana (6th overall) first, with South Alabama (21st overall) second, followed  by Georgia St. (58th overall), WKU (77th overall), Troy (93rd overall), Texas St. (102nd overall), UT-Arlington (136th overall), and ULM (155th overall).
