The top-ranked Louisiana Ragin Cajun baseball team returns to the diamond on Friday night, as coach Tony Robichaux’s squad will be in Arlington, Texas to take on the UT-Arlington Mavericks in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, league series.

Game times are scheduled for 6:30 pm on Friday, 2 o’clock on Saturday and 1 pm on Sunday. Catch all the games on the radio, as they can be heard on 96.5 KPEL-FM & kpel965.com.

Louisiana (34-4, 11-1) has won 34 of their last 37 games, including sweeping a Sun Belt Conference series against the UALR Trojans last weekend, giving them a four-game lead atop the league standings.

UT-Arlington (16-21, 8-7) lost a non-conference game against the Texas Longhorns (10-2) this week, after winning in two of three games against the Georgia St. Panthers last weekend in league action.

The Cajuns are hitting .327 as a team, which places them first in the league going into the series, to go along with 46 home runs, 294 runs batted in, and 64 stolen bases, which all lead the conference.

Louisiana boats the top four hitters in the conference including second baseman Jace Conrad (.386-6-42) outfielder Caleb Adams (.369-7-23), outfielder Dylan Butler (.367-3-19), and outfielder Seth Harrison (.362-8-39).

The Mavericks are currently hitting a .290, which ranks seventh in the league, with 22 homers, 194 RBI’s, and 18 stolen bases.

Senior infielder Matt Shortall and Ryan Bottger pace UT-Arlington, hitting a .349 and a .347, respectively.

Pitching-wise, Louisiana ranks first in the league, with a 3.08 team ERA., while UT-Arlington ranks second, at a 4.37.

The Cajuns feature Carson Baranik (8-0, 2.40) and Austin Robichaux (4-2, 2.92), who rank first and sixth in the league, respectively, in terms of ERA. Robichaux will get the start on Friday night, with Baranik getting the call on Saturday, while Cody Boutte (4-0, 3.78) gets the Sunday start.

The Mavericks, will counter, if they use the same rotation as they did last weekend, with senior right-hander Brad Vachon (2-5, 5.34) on Friday, junior right-hander Zac Thompson (2-3, 4.82) on Saturday, and senior right-hander Daniel Milliman (4-0, 1.71) on Sunday.
