The 6th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team picked-up another win on Friday afternoon, defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 12-0, in the first game of the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational at Lamson Park.

Sophomore right-hander threw a 5-inning no-hitter, while senior first baseman Kelsey Vincent drove home four runs, to help guide UL to the win.

The victory, in 5-inning, mercy-rule fashion, gave Louisiana their 5th-consecutive triumph, as well as 11 wins in their first 12 games of 2016.

The Cajuns got on the scoreboard first, scoring 6 runs in the bottom half of the first inning, including back-to-back home runs by senior catcher Lexie Elkins and Vincent, to give them a quick 6-0 lead.

For Elkins, the blast was her 10th of the season, which leads the nation, while Vincent's long ball marked her 5th of the year.

Louisiana added three more runs in the bottom half of the second inning, including back-to-back singles by Elkins and Vincent, with Vincent's base knock driving home a run, to extend their lead to 9-0.

The Cajuns put the game completely out of reach in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring two more runs, courtesy of a two-run single by Vincent, her 3rd and 4th RBI's of the game, to make the score 11-0.

UL added an insurance run in the bottom half of the fourth inning, when Gabby Felps doubled home a run, making it 12-0.

That was more than enough, as the Cajuns coasted to the 12-run, 5-inning win.

Louisiana, who outhit Rutgers, 11-9, was led at the plate by Vincent, who went 3-for-3, along with a home run and 4 runs batted in, while Elkins chipped in with two hits, two runs scored, and 2 RBI's.

Trahan (3-1) was the story inside the circle for the Cajuns, tossing a 5-inning no-hitter, walking 2, while striking out a career-high 10 batters.

Dresden Maddox (0-4) suffered the loss for Rutgers, allowing 6 runs in only one-third of an inning.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 11-1 on the season, while Rutgers fell to 1-9.

The Cajuns return to action Saturday, on the second day on the tournament, facing Rutgers again at 1:30 pm, before taking on Alcorn St. at 4 o'clock.
