The 17-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday evening, playing host to the McNeese St. Cowgirls in a non-conference single game at Lamson Park.

Louisiana, who has won 22 of their last 24 games, defeated South Alabama in two-of-three Sun Belt Conference games last weekend, and are 30-7-1 on the season.

McNeese St., who has won 14 of their last 16 games, and has victories over Texas A&M, Alabama, and LSU this season, will come into tonight's match-up with an overall record of 30-11.

The Cajuns, currently hitting a .305 as a team, along with 60 homes runs and 27 stolen bases, are led by senior second baseman Natalie Fernandez, who is hitting a .475, with a .578 on-base percentage.

Freshman outfielder Hayley Hayden leads Louisiana in homers, with 13, while sophomore catcher Lexie Elkins has driven home a team-high 47 runs.

The Cowgirls, hitting a .284 as a team, along with 25 homers and 74 steals, are paced by senior outfielder Alanna DiVittorio, who is hitting a .397 with five homers and 21 runs batted in.

UL has an overall team ERA. of 3.30, compared to 1.77 for McNeese St.

First-pitch is slated for 6 o’clock.
