The 13th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team was victorious in Sun Belt Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Lamson Park, defeating the ULM Warhawks, 9-3, to complete a sweep in the three-game, weekend, league series.

The game marked the final one of the regular season for both squads.

The win extended Louisiana’s current win streak to 12 games, and gives them 33 victories over their last 35 games.

Sophomore catcher Lexie Elkins went 3-for-3, with a home run, and five runs batted in, while sophomore third baseman Samantha Walsh and freshman outfielder Hayley Hayden collected two hits apiece, as Louisiana out-hit ULM, 10-4.

Jordan Wallace (14-3) was the winning pitcher for the Cajuns, allowing one run over four innings of work, while Victoria Brown recorded her first save of the season, with three innings of two-hit relief.

In a losing cause for the Warhawks, Melanie Coyne (4-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs over two innings.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to 41-7-1, overall, and 19-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while ULM fell to 22-25, overall, and 6-14 in league play.

The Cajuns will be the top-seed in the postseason Sun Belt Conference Tournament, which begins on Wednesday at Lamson Park.

Louisiana will play their first game on Thursday at 5 pm.
