Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team opened their 2013-2014 regular season schedule on Friday night, defeating the Omaha Mavericks, 80-68, at the Cajundome.

Louisiana lead it at the half, 37-30, and then outscored Omaha in the second half, 43-38, to capture the 12-point win.

The Cajuns were able to out-shoot the Mavericks from the field, 41%-35%, and also finished with a 48-43 rebound advantage.

Jasmin Mills led the way for Louisiana, finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Ashley Benjamin chipped in with 15 points and 14 boards.

Two more UL players reached double-digits, with Keke Veal and Sylvana Okde scoring 15, and 13, respectively.

In a losing cause for Omaha, Brianna Bogard poured in a game-high 29 points.

With the win, the Cajuns improved to 1-0, while the Mavericks fell to 0-1.

Louisiana returns to the hardwood on Monday night, when they host Southern-New Orleans, in non-conference action at the Cajundome.
