As expected, Louisiana secondary coach Tim Rebowe has been named the head football coach at Nicholls State University.

The hiring makes perfect sense for the Colonels.  The 51- year old Rebowe is a native of Norco and a product of Destrehan High School.  His entire coaching career has been in the state of Louisiana, having coached at his high school alma mater for seven years.  He coached at Nicholls State from 1995-2000, Louisiana-Monroe 2001-03, and at UL from 2004 to the present.

Coach Mark Hudspeth tweeted earlier today that Rebowe will remain on staff through the Cajuns' bowl game.

Known as an outstanding recruiter, Rebowe could be the shot in the arm the Colonels have needed.  But he has a mammoth rebuilding job ahead.  Nicholls has operated under an interim coach after head coach Charlie Stubbs resigned back in September, citing major health concerns.  The Colonels went winless in 2014, losing 60-3 to Southeastern Louisiana Thursday night.  Stubbs was 10-38 in his tenure at Nicholls.

Rebowe is a 1987 graduate of LSU.  He and his wife Kim have two children.
