The family of a Eunice man tells us he is "doing ok" after him and three other workers evacuated a production platform that caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico.

We aren't releasing the name of the gentleman, who family members tell us is employed by Island Operating. The family member we spoke to says Island, based in the Lafayette area, was contracting with the owner of the platform, Renaissance Offshore.

The four workers evacuated into the water and were rescued by an offshore supply vessel. They were then picked up by helicopter and brought to Terrebonne General hospital for examination.

The U.S. Coast Guard reports they were notified of the fire at about 2:30 Thursday morning. According to the release, the fire was extinguished at about 6:15AM. Four USCG vessels responded to the emergency about 80 miles south of Grand Isle.

No immediate signs of pollution were evident following the fire, and the cause is under investigation.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
