When Acadiana's own Kylie Frey was in kindergarten, she dressed up as Shania Twain for career day.

And now, Shania picked her for one of her seven spots on a new USA Network country music competition show. A total of 21 artists chosen by the judges (Shania, Jake Owen and Travis Tritt) are competing for $100,000 and the opportunity to perform at Nashville's iconic Grand Ole Opry.

"Real Country" premieres at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 and it's going to be a fast-paced treat: Each week, three artists face off for the chance to go to the grand finale to try to win it all.

It's not just the prize money; the Grand Ole Opry has long been considered a launching pad for country performers. Some artists dream of performing there for years before they get that honor!

We'll get the added bonus of seeing whether one of our own gets a step closer to stardom. According to USA Network promo materials:

Frey has a nationally recognized single, “Too Bad,” featuring Randy Rogers and produced by the Grammy, CMA, and ACM Award winning Paul Worley, and her debut album included two Top 10’s and her first #1, “Rodeo Man,” on Texas Regional Radio Report Charts.

If you haven't heard "Too Bad" yet:

If you watch all eight episodes of "Real Country," you'll also get to see:

  • Billie Jo, a mom of four who has won several local singing competitions in Texas
  • Adairs Run, a duo that pushes gritty rock-and-roll and authentic story-telling
  • The Young Fables, a duo who already has performed with Lauren Alaina, Josh Turner, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and more.
  • Scooter Brown, a Marine who served two tours overseas before moving to Texas and then Nashville to pursue music

It'll be fun to see how Kylie Frey fares against the other competitors on "Real Country" and if the other two judges are as impressed with her as Shania was. You can follow her on social media: Twitter: @kyliefrenchfrey/Instagram: @kyliefrenchfrey

Don't forget to tune in at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13!
