Vermilion Parish Murder Suspect Attacks Lafayette Deputy
One of two men facing the death penalty in the first-degree murder of Vermilion Parish deputy Allen Bares Jr. is now accused of attacking a Lafayette deputy.
KATC reports Quintylan Richard struck a deputy in the head and face several times Monday night during a routine wellness check of the inmates at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
The deputy was treated at a local hospital for several lacerations.
A criminal report has been filed and sent to the district attorney's office for review.
Richard, along with Baylon Taylor — both 20 — are charged with the June 23 murder of Bares while he was off-duty in Abbeville.
Taylor is being held in the Acadia Parish Jail.
