According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermillion Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit made the follow arrests for narcotics related offenses within the parish.
On May 18th, agents received information about an illegal methamphetamine transaction that was supposed to occur. The suspect in question was Jeremy Melancon, who was wanted for outstanding warrants. Upon setting up surveillance, agents witnessed Melancon arrive at the predetermined location. While agents began to move in, Melancon fled the area with a passenger in his vehicle. Agents activated emergency lights in an attempt to get Melancon to stop. After several blocks, agents noticed the vehicle slow as if someone threw something out.
