Over 400 movies and tv shows have been filmed in Louisiana, maybe the reason we're called 'Hollywood of the South'! If you're up for a road trip this summer, and would like to visit some of the location sites where filming takes place, you might want to start with some of our beautiful antebellum plantations. '12 Years a Slave', 'Interview with the Vampire' and 'D'Jango Unchained' were all filmed on the River Road -  at Felicity , Oak Alley, and Evergreen Plantations.

Natchitoches was also the site of the filming of 'Steel Magnolias' in 1989, and if you watch the new CBS TV show 'NCIS New Orleans', you can catch a glimpse of the real life locations around the French Quarter and beyond, where shooting occurs. Of course, History Channel's 'Swamp People; has several locations around the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area where filming takes place. Our friends at Louisiana Travel have other locations around the state for you to visit, if you are a movie or TV buff - so go exploring this summer, and have fun, ya'll!
