We've heard about this in other cities and it's finally made it to Acadiana.

Walmart's free curbside service debuts in three Acadiana stores beginning today (Oct. 31).

Shoppers can register online at walmart.com/grocery to purchase goods and then reserve a time to pick up their items at designated areas outside the store.

The first three stores in the area to participate include the Pinhook Road location in Lafayette, the Breaux Bridge Walmart and in New Iberia at 1205 E. Admiral Doyle Drive.

What is available to purchase? More than 30,000 items, including fresh produce, meat and organics. And the good thing is items are priced the same online as they are in the stores.

Shoppers can schedule their pickup time up to three weeks in advance. Or if you order by 10am, you can get your items after 4pm the same day.

In case you were wondering, designated employees who have been trained to pick out the best produce items put together shoppers' items.

There should be more stores offering this service in the Acadiana area in the near future as this service is part of a nationwide rollout.
