I am not a fan of wasps. I wonder if we really need them on the planet. I am sure that in the grand design of Mother Earth the wasp does play an important part somewhere in the many ecosystems that govern our well being. I personally can't find any use for the critters myself.

I have to admit I am at bit biased in my reporting because I was electrified by a wasp sting yesterday while weeding the yard. When I say electrified when the contact between my arm and wasp butt was made it felt like a million volts had just been shot down through my toes.

What exactly does wasp venom do to a human being? I know some people are deathly allergic and they need to take proper precautions. I am not allergic I just swell up and itch. The fact that the bicep of my left arm is twice the size of my right arm has left me with many a strange look from my fellow shoppers at the Winn Dixie.

What do you do if you get stung? My first suggestion is to run like Usain Bolt in the Olympics as far away as you can. Be sure to flap your arms and thrash about as you run. This will give the neighbors watching from across the street a chance to win 100-Thousand dollars on America's Funniest Home Videos.

In all seriousness there are some great over the counter remedies and home remedies that can ease the pain of the wasp's sting. I opted for crying like a baby and threatening legal action.

Do we really need wasps? Yes we do and it's not their fault we get stung. We just make it really easy for them to live among us. Here are some common places you can look around your house to check for growing wasps nest. Please give your home and property a quick check it truly could save your life or the life of someone you love.
