Multiple downtown groups are teaming up with Project Front Yard to hold a weekly cleanup session in downtown Lafayette on Sunday starting Sunday, April 5.

Several groups and companies are funding the effort including:

  • Downtown Lafayette Restaurant and Bar Association (DLRBA)
  • Chase Tower
  • The Lemoine Company
  • Downtown Development Authority (DDA)

These groups will dedicate funds to help keep the downtown area clean.

A special cleanup crew will be going out every Sunday morning to clean up the area. The project will begin next Sunday and run through the end of this year.

President of the Downtown Lafayette Restaurant and Bar Association Gus Rezende says,

“DLRBA is very proud to be a key partner in the overall effort to address Sunday morning litter in downtown Lafayette.”

Katherine McCormick, Project Front Yard Coordinator adds,

“We have heard from so many people about wanting a cleaner downtown on Sunday mornings. In response, we worked with willing and generous partners to put together a program that is a win-win for downtown Lafayette businesses and visitors. Chase Tower, DDA, DLBRA and The Lemoine Company should be applauded for helping to lead the community in this effort.”

Project Front Yard says while this Sunday clean up effort is not for volunteers, they do hope to remind residents to clean up their own areas if they see debris collecting on their streets.
