West St. John High School is in shock and in mourning over the tragic death of one of the schools football coaches. According to reports, quarterbacks coach Juan Joseph was shot and killed in an altercation at a outside of a Baton Rouge nightclub early Sunday morning.

West St. John Head Coach Robert Valdez explained what happened to the Louisiana Radio Network.

"He was in a situation where he was trying to kinda diffuse the situation and a senseless act, the person who shot him, didn't even know he was, didn't know anything about him,"

Investigators believe that Joseph was involved in an argument with some other men at the club. Those men got into a vehicle and at least one of them open fire. Authorities are still trying to ascertain the identity of the shooter at this time.

Joseph was the quarterbacks coach for the West St. John state title teams in 2003 and 2004. He leaves behind a 4 year old daughter and a wife who is expecting their second child. His team, the West St. John Rams are facing Varnado in a playoff game this Friday night.
