A low-pressure system and frontal system currently pushing out of South Central Texas is most likely going to create some confusion this weekend. This system is expected to move slowly to the north and east over the next 12 to 24 hours and during that time it should significantly increase the chance of rain and thunderstorms across the state.

Currently, the Storm Prediction Center is not forecasting an outbreak of severe weather for Louisiana this weekend but the probability of rain and thunderstorms will be plentiful. That could wreak havoc with holiday plans, festivals, and parades across the state.

Saturday morning a significant threat of showers will be present across the western part of the state with that increasing threat of precipitation pushing eastward throughout the day. Sunday much of the state will be seeing showers and thunderstorms.

Depending on how heavy the rain is and how much rain is falling or going to fall might change a lot of holiday plans across the state. The first weekend in December is very busy with Christmas Parades, Christmas Festivals and a lot of shopping so the wet weather could put a damper on those activities.

You can take a quick peek at the National Weather Service Radar before you dress the kids and head out the door. This will give you an indicator of whether the weather will be changing your immediate plans.

We suggest you stay close to this website as well as the station Facebook page and Twitter feed for the very latest information on cancellations and postponements as they are announced by event organizers.
