Tonight under the bright lights of "Bobcat Field" the Ragin' Cajuns of our hometown university will tee it up against Texas State University. Against who? I spent quite a few years in the Dallas and Austin area and I swear I don't remember there being a Texas State University.

Okay, that's not exactly true, there was one Texas State University that I remember. They played their make believe games on the campus of the University of North Texas. This Texas State University team was featured in the movie "Necessary Roughness". It was a  major hit on the late night cable channels because the movie sucked.  Still, this can't be who the Cajuns will be playing tonight?

The university that now operates under the moniker Texas State University was called Southwest Texas State when I lived in Texas. Much like the University of North Texas was once North Texas State and we were the University of Southwestern Louisiana, they changed their name.

Texas State University is located in San Marcos, Texas. It's a lovely city situated in what is called the Texas Hill Country. For my money the Hill Country is a national treasure. It's one of the most scenic places you could ever visit. The city and university are located about 30 minutes south of Austin.

Texas State is the only university in Texas that boast a former President of the United States as an alumnus. President Lyndon B. Johnson was a graduate from then Southwest Texas State in 1930.

So that's who Texas State is and I can tell you based upon this internet post, they are ready for the Cajuns and the national TV exposure tonight. Remember you can hear the game on ESPN 1420 or Hot 1079 with Jay Walker, Gerald Broussard and Steve Peloquin on the call. Game time is tonight at 7 our pregame show begins at 5pm on ESPN 1420 and is joined by the Ragin Cajun Radio Network at 6pm.
