Why Doesn’t Louisiana Attract More Newcomers?

Our friends at nola.com Louisiana's population was made up of a relatively small percentage of newcomers -- people who moved from outside the state or country -- last year. It ranked 42^nd out of 50 when it came to new transplants in 2012, according to Governing magazine. Why is that? We have great people, food, festivals, outdoor activities, a booming film and television industry....and yet the people are not flocking to our great state.

Some of the comments seem to indicate that our reputation precedes us - I mean, let's face it, we have always had the image of a corrupt government - starting as far back as the esteemed Huey P Long! And it doesn't help that we have the highest car insurance rates in the entire nation - which is absolutely ridiculous!!!
