The University of Louisiana Alumni Association will be holding its Spring Gala this Saturday, April 11th from 6:30pm-10:00pm at the UL Student Union. The event will feature food, entertainment along with silent and live auctions.

Proceeds from the event are dedicated to maintaining and improving Alumni facilities.

This year's Gala will honor Dwight Andrus, Jr., a 1956 graduate and longtime supporter of the University.

Andrus, who is from Lafayette, worked for many years as a real estate developer, on projects such as the Acadiana Mall, residential subdivisions, and office buildings. He is involved in his family's blueberry farm and owns an insurance agency.

He and his wife, Nedra, established the Andrus Endowed Chair in Finance in 1997. "We feel that UL is one of the cornerstones of Lafayette's foundation. We wanted to become a permanent part in helping UL grow," he said.

One of the coolest items up for grabs at this year's Gala is a unique, one-of-a-kind customized Ragin' Cajun guitar autographed by Blake Shelton.

It was autographed after a show on March 21st in Melbourne, Florida and delivered by the "King of Cankton", aka Tracy Broussard aka Blake's drummer and our good friend.
