The internet can be a crazy place. Sure, we all love the cat videos it provides, but there is also many things about the internet we don't want, like personal information. We all see things on the web saying a site has our personal information, and normally it's a click bait scam. However, I just went on this site to try it out and it had more information about me and my family than I'm comfortable with.

The website is familytreenow.com. It's a website for people to trace genealogy. Not really all that bad except for the personal information it had about me like all of my previous address, some I've never lived at, my kid's names, my wife's previous addresses and much more.

I'm not comfortable with my kid's full names, ages and address being all right there. There are too many creeps in this world.

The good news is that you can get your information taken down from this site.

Opt out:

  1. find yourself on the website
    2. go all the way down to privacy at the bottom of the page and click on the link
    3. scroll about 1/3 of the way down that page until you see a blue hyperlink that says opt out here
    4. search your information, once you find it click view details and then the next page will have a red button that says something like opt out here
