Youngsville Votes To Sue Over Chemin Metairie
The Youngsville City Council met on Monday night, and went into a closed-door meeting for an executive session about whether they were going to file a lawsuit against the firm that designed the Phase One portion of Chemin Metairie Parkway.
The council voted 4 to zero to go ahead with a lawsuit against engineering firm Fenstermaker.
The firm suggested a nine-inch-thick asphalt for Phase One, but because of financial issues, Youngsville decided to go with 4 inches of thickness as the price was 5 million dollars cheaper.
The total cost was then 7 million dollars, and since the roads's completion there have been a multitude of repair issues.
When it came time to do Phase Two of the project, the city decided on 10 inches of concrete for that section of the road.
