Getting a new or renewing a Louisiana fishing license used to be a big deal. Thanks to technology you don't even have to get out of bed to get your new license for the upcoming fishing year.

All Louisiana recreational fishing license will expire on June 30th. So, consider this a heads up to get ready to renew yours. For most people that process is now handled on the smartphone with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website.

Remember there are several varieties of fishing licenses that you can get. There is the basic license which covers most of the kind of fishing that most of us do. There is a saltwater license that is needed for those who want to harvest saltwater species of fish.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries also has special licensing for senior citizens, cane pole fishers, children, and military. You can also obtain a lifetime fishing license if you don't want to be bothered with having to remember to renew every June 30th.
