This morning the streets of Lafayette will be filled with runners competing in the Inaugural Zydeco Marathon. The running event has attracted runners from all over the country and the world to Acadiana. While these runners are on the course for 26.2 miles or 13.1 miles there will need to be traffic controls in place.

Several roadways will have limited traffic or be closed all together during the race hours of 6am - 2pm. Most notable are the Saints streets, Jefferson Street, Bendel Road, West Congress between Cajundome and Downtown and Girard Park Drive. Those wishing to cheer runners along the route are encouraged to find a spot at Cajun Field, Downtown along Jefferson Street, Girard Park and in the Oil Center.

Those that live along the marathon route are encouraged to turn their yards into cheering sections and reminded to plan ahead for the road closures. Access to Lafayette General Medical Center will be available from South College Road on the Johnston Street side. Anyone with a medical emergency should contact race security near the hospital. These security officers will guide them quickly and safely to the emergency room.
