57-year-old Joey Farmer and 39-year-old Robert Trucker were arrested on Thursday after they allegedly burglarized a business in the 600 block of S. Landry Road.

Captain John Babin with the New Iberia Police Department tells KPEL News in a press release that officers arrested Farmer first after they noticed him leaving the business shortly after midnight. Officers say the vehicle he was stopped in contained items which he had allegedly stolen from the business, as well as a small amount of suspected Crystal methamphetamine. Farmer faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule II Narcotics
  • Burglary of a Business
  • No Driver License
  • Possession of Stolen Things

Then, officers arrested Tucker, who officers say they saw actually go inside the business shortly after midnight. He faces the following charges:

  • Open Warrant for Failure to Appear
  • Unauthorized Entry of a Business
  • Possession of Stolen Thing

Officers, as well as deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, say they were able to get a search warrant for a home in the 4200 block of Romero Road, where they found more stolen items.

Both men have been booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
