It's that time of year again... Superbowl weekend! We can't all agree on who we think should win, but I bet everyone wants some good food to munch on during the big game. Yes, there's always delicious hot wings, nachos, and sliders, but I'm thinking a big pot of hot chili will be more satisfying this year. I have an awesome, homemade recipe that amounts to a WIN.Here is what you will need:
1 lb ground meat
1 lb hot sausage (whichever kind you like)
1 large onion
1 large green bell pepper
4 cloves garlic
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can Rotel
1 can tomato sauce
2 cans jalapeno pinto beans (I use Trappey's)
2 Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp cumin
1 Tbsp cayenne
1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
1 bay leaf
Salt & Pepper

Cook the ground meat and hot sausage over med-high heat until it's cooked through.
Add the chopped onion and chopped green bell pepper, cook for about 8 minutes until the onions and peppers are softened.
Add the minced 4 cloves garlic and saute with meat mixture for about 2 minutes.
Add the can rotel, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. (Don't throw empty cans away just yet)
Add all of the seasonings except for the salt & pepper.
Fill each of the empty cans half-way with water, add to the pot and give it a big stir.
Once the chili comes to a boil, reduce to a low setting, put the lid on and let it cook for about an hour.
After an hour, season your chili with salt and pepper to taste. Add the two cans drained jalapeno pinto beans and cook for an additional half hour with the lid off.

You may add all kinds of deliciousness to your chili such as:  sour cream, frito/tortilla chips, cheese, etc. I know you and your friends and family will LOVE this recipe. Bon apetit!
