Catholic Charities Acadiana Helping This Season & All Year

With Thanksgiving on Thursday, and Christmas one month from today, many of us maybe looking around at all the things we are thankful for and hoping that we can share some of that joy with those who don't have as much.

Ben Broussard, Chief Communications Officer with Catholic Charities of Acadiana says he is amazed each day by the outpouring of support for the less fortunate in our community.

Broussard gives the example of the St. Joseph Diner that provides meals for anyone needing them.

He says all the spots for volunteers have filled up for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, but there are still spots available throughout the year where they need people to work in the kitchen.

At the various shelters, they also have a list on their website, that has a list that changes as the needs of the people in the shelter change. If you want to donate your time to St. Joseph's Diner, or if you want to volunteer in some other capacity, all you need to do is visit their website.

According to Broussards press release, Catholic Charities of Acadiana have been providing help for decades,

Since 1973, its programs have represented a response to the Gospel call to carry out the corporal works of mercy: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, offering hospitality to the homeless, caring for the sick, visiting the imprisoned and burying the dead.
