Louisiana politics is known for colorful characters. These charismatic characters have become the stuff of legend and Hollywood movies. Perhaps there is no bigger character nor recognized face and name than that of Former Governor Edwin Edwards.

Edwards has spent his life in the public spotlight and under the microscopic scrutiny of the legal system as well. He is currently in the entertainment spotlight as he is featured on a new reality show The Governors Wife.

Would Edwin Edwards return to politics? In a story reported by the Louisiana Radio Network he hints that public service is still on his mind. According to the story in order for Edwards to run for Governor in the year 2015 it would take a Presidential pardon. However the former Governor and former prison inmate could run for United States Senate in 2016 with out any decrees from the President's office.

In the Louisiana Radio Network story Edwards said of his potential return to politics,

"I think the state needs someone who is more in tune to the needs and wishes and attitude of people in Louisiana."

When asked if his age might hinder any further political ambitions Edwards, who is 86, suggested his age would not be an issue and that his health was fine.
