MGK Surprises Nashville Crowd, Brings Lainey Wilson Up to Perform With Him [Watch]
On Tuesday (Sept. 24), rapper-singer Machine Gun Kelly gave a free show in downtown Nashville at the Skydeck on Broadway, where fans lined up starting early in the morning, in the pouring rain, in hopes of getting in.
MGK is in town to be a part of the People's Choice Country Awards on Thursday night, as is Lainey Wilson, and with two in the same place at the same time, magic happened.
MGK Surprises Nashville Crowd, Brings Lainey Wilson Up to Perform With Him
As the packed crowd was clamoring over MGK and his songs, he stopped the show to bring out the current CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year, Wilson.
The "Hang Tight Honey" hitmaker walked onto the stage and the crowd went wild.
Together they sang "Lonely Road," which is MGK's song with Jelly Roll. Wilson and Jelly are labelmates, so it was a fitting choice.
In the video, Wilson is assisting MGK in dropping some background vocals, then she proceeds to sing Jelly's verse.
It is interesting to see such a big, headlining country artist letting another artist have the spotlight, and taking a backseat to their performance.
A truly classy move. Jelly Roll once shared with Taste of Country Nights that he picked up on how to do that from Eric Church. So, it is cool to see that move being spread around country music.
Once the song was over, MGK and Wilson shared a huge hug and Wilson exited the stage, as MGK continued on with his performance.
