Parker McCollum is on a hot streak both in his music career and his personal life. After a run of four songs going to No. 1 on the charts and the birth of his firstborn son, Major, life is swinging happily for this rising star.

McCollum stopped by Taste of Country Nights to chat it up with Evan Paul, and the topic of his baby boy came up.

It got serious fast.

McCollum was asked if there was anything that he will never do as a father, based off of his own experience as a kid and his upbringing. He knew his answer.

"My parents split when I was real young, so that's always something I've thought about since I was a kid," he explains.

"Hallie Ray and I will be together forever. No question in my mind."

Hallie Ray Light is McCollum's wife of two-and-a-half years. The couple wed on March 28, 2022, and welcomed baby Major Yancey Tyler McCollum on Aug. 8, 2024.

"So I think that will be really instrumental in his upbringing," McCollum says, expanding on his dedication to his marriage. "Just kind of the consistency of his childhood and [to] have the both of us to lean on forever, I think will be something that's really important to me."

McCollum wanted to clarify that his parents were not an issue — he says they are "wonderful people" — but that their marriage "did not work out, it didn't last very long."

As for his promise to his boy? Things will be different.

"I look forward to kind of righting the ship for him on that," the singer says.
