FAA Announces Cause of Baton Rouge Police Helicopter Crash

As we previously reported here, two Baton Rouge police officers were killed Sunday after the helicopter they were in crashed in a cane field.

WAFB-TV reports that the Federal Aviation Administration has announced what caused the police helicopter to crash Sunday.

According to the FAA report, the tail rotor of the aircraft struck a tree.

While this investigation is still in the preliminary stages, damage to the helicopter has led investigators to believe the helicopter struck a tree and then crashed into the field.

The agency in charge of this investigation will look into if any mechanical issues may have played a role in this deadly crash.

On Monday, flags were seen flying at half-staff at the Baton Rouge Police headquarters.
