After a month-long stay, Lafayette Police Officer Brian Rozas was finally released from the hospital on Thursday.

Rozas was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being dragged by a vehicle as the driver tried fleeing during an attempted traffic stop in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 14th.

Even after Rozas was stabilized, his recovery was still uncertain due to the severity of his injuries. Almost immediately, there was an outpouring of love and support from the local Lafayette community as even the best-case scenario would have Rozas unable to work the extra detail that he relied on to take care of his family.

Although his recovery was a waiting game, the Lafayette Police Officer would show signs of improvement with each passing day and earlier today (Sep. 15) Rozas was informed that he would finally be able to go home after remaining in the hospital since suffering a near-death experience.

While the idea of finally getting to go home to his family after spending the last month in recovery was exciting enough, Rozas was floored when he walked out of the hospital doors and saw a large crowd waiting to greet him.

According to Sgt. Robin Green, Officer Rozas was not expecting the turnout and was very surprised to see the large group of officers that showed up to support him.

Another emotional moment came prior to Rozas getting into the vehicle with his family as he keyed up on the radio for all his fellow officers that were working and couldn't attend his release, advising him that he was "in service and en route to his residence."
