After days of searching and rallying together, Lafayette and the surrounding areas can breathe a sigh of relief—Milo, the beloved orange tabby from Courtesy Preowned on Ambassador Caffery, is back where he belongs thanks to an incredible community-wide effort to bring him home.

Milo’s adventure began when a customer, thinking they were rescuing a stray cat, accidentally took him home. The confusion quickly turned into a frantic search after Milo escaped from the customer’s car at a Lafayette gas station. For a week, the dealership staff, Milo’s human dad Jay, and an entire community of pet lovers rallied to locate the beloved feline who had been a fixture at the dealership for five years.

Late one night, a Good Samaritan named McKenzie spotted a cat she thought might be Milo near Martial Avenue. Despite her efforts, Milo was skittish and ran off. Still, her report kept the hope alive.

The real breakthrough came the next morning, thanks to another kind stranger, Brittany, who lives at Plantation Gardens. She called Milo’s dad after noticing a plump orange cat crawl out from her car’s undercarriage near the apartment playground. Milo’s dad didn’t want to get his hopes up but went to check. Initially, he thought Milo wasn’t there—until he heard the unmistakable sound of a familiar meow.

When Milo and his dad saw each other, the reunion was instant. Milo ran straight to him and hopped into his truck as if ready to head home. Back at the dealership, Milo received a hero’s welcome, complete with hugs, treats, and plenty of head scratches.

“Milo’s like family,” Nicole Young-Lopez, Milo’s dad’s daughter, shared. “Seeing my dad’s joy when Milo came back was so emotional. He was crying tears of happiness.”

To prevent any future adventures, Milo’s dad plans to get a GPS tracker for him. For now, though, Milo is back in his familiar spot at the dealership, purring away and enjoying all the extra attention from his relieved family and friends.

Hats off to every stranger who shared his photo and kept hope alive until he made it back to where he belonged. Welcome home, Milo!
