A Suburban hearse was recovered on Tuesday (Mar. 21) after being stolen from a local Lafayette funeral home.

On Monday night, Syrie Funeral Home mortician, Eugene J. Sonnier II posted an update on his Facebook page asking for the public's help to track down a suburban that had reportedly been stolen from the funeral home.

Sonnier described the suburban hearse as a silver truck with Landau bars as he pleaded for help in finding the funeral home vehicle.

Reactions began to pour in on social media as people began to look out for the silver suburban in the area.

Sonnier posted an update that the Lafayette Police Department was able to locate the missing hearse on Tuesday morning.

According to a report from KLFY, the suburban hearse was located in a field in Carencro where police say a strong odor led them to believe that the individuals responsible for stealing the vehicle smoked marijuana while taking the truck on a joyride. While the vehicle wasn't located until 1 p.m., someone claims to have spotted a male individual driving the vehicle on Gloria Switch Road around 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

More reactions flooded the KLFY comment section after the story was posted on their social media.
