When Baton Rouge Police arrived, the mother, Shannon Moore, told officers that she opened the front door of her home, and her 4-year-old son ran outside. She claims she was unable to catch him and allegedly waited 30 minutes before calling for help or reporting the incident to police.

Shannon Moore was arrested by police for child desertion and improper supervision of a minor, according to WBRZ. The warrant states that, unfortunately, this was not the first time police were called about her son running from the home.

Police were told that the boy escaped from the home on multiple occasions by opening the front door and running through the automatic fence. WBRZ spoke with other tenants who said that children run around the complex without an adult present all the time and are not surprised by the incident.

Those children wander around here. The parents don't seem to care

Neighbors are concerned about the amount of children between the ages of 3 and 4 years old who are constantly being put in harms way by not be properly supervised by an adult.

One neighbor shared that they have seen children standing by the exit gate that leads to the the main road with no parents in sight. With little to no security on the property many neighbors worry that this wont be the last time an incident like this happens.
