(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Officials with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office say they arrested a South Carolina man on drug charges after a traffic stop on I-10 at around 7 p.m. Monday, November 4th.

The man from Rock Hill, South Carolina has been identified as 48-year-old Ronald Belton. According to officials, there was a traffic stop that happened on I-10 near Lafayette Monday evening.

Deputies were able to confiscate 13 pounds of cocaine from Belton's vehicle.

Belton was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substances
  • Improper Lane Use

He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
