Louisiana T-Mobile customers may be eligible for a piece of the $60 million dollar settlement. According to Forbes, the company failed to disclose and take action against 'unauthorized access to internal data' after it merged with Sprint in 2020.

This settlement is unprecedented because, according to Forbes, it is the largest fine ever imposed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. Typically, CFIUS does not list the companies by name when they violate their contracts. Now, other large companies may be more inclined to 'fulfill contractual obligations' and communicate more effectively when there is a breach of those contracts.

The Wall Street Journal reported that T-Mobile failed to report the unauthorized access of sensitive consumer data, violating their agreement and delaying 'efforts to address potential harm to national security.' The telecommunications company will pay over $60 million to settle these allegations against them.

Does T-Mobile Owe Louisiana Customers Money?

In the past, T-Mobile paid $37 million to customers whose personal information was compromised in January 2023 and $370 million in 2022 to those who were also impacted by data breaches.

There are no specifics at this time regarding how much T-Mobile customers who were affected by this data breach will be compensated, but based on past instances, it appears like they will fairly compensate customers who file a claim.
