BATON ROUGE, La. – One suspect has been identified and arrested, and two others are expected to turn themselves in Friday in connection with the hazing death of Southern University student Caleb Wilson, according to WAFB's Chris Nakamoto.

Baton Rouge officials confirmed that Caleb McCray, a former Southern University student, has already been charged with manslaughter and criminal hazing. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison overnight Thursday.

During a Friday morning news conference, Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse Jr. stated that investigators are preparing warrants for two additional individuals.

Their attorneys are working with law enforcement to arrange their surrender later in the day.

The two additional suspects are expected to face misdemeanor hazing charges. District Attorney Hillar Moore told WAFB that while they may be booked into parish prison after turning themselves in, it is also possible they will be issued citations.

Investigation Into Wilson’s Death

Authorities say Wilson, 19, died after a fraternity hazing ritual at a Baton Rouge warehouse, where pledges of Omega Psi Phi were allegedly beaten as part of the initiation process.

Chief Morse stated that Wilson’s death was directly caused by a blow to the chest. However, forensic testing is still ongoing, and the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office has not yet released the official cause and manner of death.

Wilson’s sudden death initially raised questions, with conflicting details emerging in the days following the incident. Authorities now say the case is being treated as a hazing-related death, and additional interviews are underway.

At this time, it remains unclear how soon the two additional suspects will be taken into custody.
