Tchoup’s Mid-City has announced it will be closing its doors for good at the end of the year. Located in an iconic converted home in mid-city Lafayette, the restaurant has been a staple of the community since opening in 2020, offering a unique blend of traditional BBQ with a full-service bar and outdoor dining.

Owner Ryan Pecot expressed personal, deep gratitude to customers in a post, saying, “We cannot thank all of our customers enough for the patronage over the last 4.5 years, as we were so proud to serve you all!”

Tchoup’s Mid-City originally envisioned itself as a traditional BBQ destination. However, in an effort to stay afloat during challenging times, they pivoted last year by renovating their space and expanding the menu to include steak and seafood options. While the move bought them some time, Ryan explained that it created “an identity crisis” that ultimately impacted their ability to gain enough momentum to sustain the business.

Despite the closure, Tchoup plans to go out on a high note. The restaurant will remain open through the holiday season, with the final day of service set for Sunday, December 29th. Ryan and the team invite the community to come by for one last meal or a signature “Smoked Fashioned” cocktail and to share a few more smiles and memories before the chapter closes.

The closure of Tchoup’s marks the end of a spot that, while not sustainable in the long run, offered great food and incredible service. Despite its challenges, anyone who dined there will remember the inviting "homelike" atmosphere, along with the good times and delicious food shared.
