Authorities have identified the deceased victim in this morning’s fatal shooting at a local barbershop as 48-year-old Johnny Trailer Jr. of Lafayette. The incident occurred around 9:18 a.m. inside a business in the 1000 block of Louisiana Avenue, which has been identified as a barbershop where Trailer was reportedly employed as a barber.

Lafayette Police responded to a 911 call reporting several gunshots fired inside the barbershop. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite officers providing life-saving medical aid, Trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
