A slow moving cold front combined with an upper level low pressure system and abundant tropical moisture will kick off some much needed shower and thundershower activity across the area today and tonight. The bulk of the heavier rain should remain west of Acadiana and eventually slide south of the area into the Gulf of Mexico.

Here is what Dave Baker is expecting for the next 24 to 48 hours. This system could produce as much as inch and half of rainfall in western sections of the listening area. For people who live in Lafayette and points east those rainfall totals should be quite a bit less. The outlook for severe weather in the area is minimal.

Dave's forecast for all of Acadiana is calling for a 50% chance of scattered showers during the day today. Rain chances will increase to 60% during the night time hours. Tomorrow conditions will slowly begin to improve but there will be a 40% chance of more rain.

Look for the front to pass late tonight and into early Thursday. This will allow the rain to end from the west and cooler drier air to move into the region. Most of Acadiana will be back to abundant sunshine by Friday and the outlook for the weekend is spectacular.
