Lauren Alaina has had much on her mind lately. Not only is the Georgia native up for New Artist of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards, she's also been spending most of her time with her family as they continue to mourn the death of her stepfather.

So it's no wonder that she hasn’t had much time to plan her wedding.

"The plan is to get married," Alaina admits, chuckling when asked what her plan is for her upcoming wedding to Alex Hopkins. She was a guest on the Bobby Bones Show on Friday, Nov. 9.

"I’ve got that plan. That's about it," she says. "There just has been a lot going on and I’ve been really busy and a lot of family stuff, so we really haven’t made a plan yet, but we’re working on it."

Alaina had been dating Hopkins for six years (meeting at the tender age of 17) prior to announcing their engagement in July. "I love him," she says. "He is my best friend. He's like an actual angel on earth. He’s the most attractive man I have ever seen."

And while Alaina thinks the wedding will be in Nashville, she would love to be able to elope. "In the perfect world, I would run away and then we’d come back and have a party," she confesses. "But our family, there are lots of people who want to be at the actual wedding, so I don’t know."

Alaina admits that the sheer thought of dresses and bridesmaids is enough to put her over the edge, but she's trying to take it all in stride.

"I’ve never been the girl that planned out their wedding like lots of girls," she says. "I just never did. I’m such a tomboy and all I wanted to do was be onstage. I knew I'd probably get married, but I didn’t plan it at all, so now I am like, 'Really? I couldn’t have been a little bit better being a girl as a child, now I have to be good at it as an adult?' It’s way harder."

Alaina will head out on tour with Blake Shelton next year, and it sounds like she'll squeeze in a wedding, too.
