Maybe it's the stress of the campaign. Maybe it's the lack of funding. Maybe it's the stark reality that their chances of getting elected are about the same as Adrian Peterson getting a license to open a daycare. Whatever the reason there are record numbers of candidates who were running in the November 4th election that won't be running after all.

According to the Secretary of State's office 110 candidates have withdrawn their names from consideration in the upcoming election. Still their names must remain on the ballot, that is according to state law. Votes for candidates that have withdrawn from a race are not counted. It is up to local polling officials to remind voters about the candidates that are no longer in the running for each office.

Secretary of State Tom Schedler tells the Louisiana Radio Network, don't expect a personal reminder from your polling officials about withdrawn candidates.

"I just want to be straight up with everyone, when you have over 13,000 commissioners across the state, certainly human error, there could be incidents where a long line or someone inadvertently forgets to say that."

Since there is a lot of interest in the November election a good turnout is expected. Therefore lines will be long and time will be of the essence to expedite your time in the booth and to make sure you know what issues you support and don't support we suggest you visit GeauxVote.com.

This is a live sample ballot that is customized for you particular location. That way you can enter the booth as an informed voter. It's a shame we won't all walk into that booth as informed as you will be.
