Close to $600,000 will becoming into the state's coffers after Louisiana agreed to a settlement with Johnson & Johnson over some allegations about the quality of certain products.

Attorney General Jeff Landry says our state, along with 42 others, agreed to a settlement amount of $33 million, and Louisiana's portion will be $586,408.

AG Landry says,

"My Public Protection Division works tirelessly to ensure companies that deceive Louisiana consumers are held accountable for their actions. This resolution does just that and should serve as a reminder for those doing business in our State to follow manufacturing safety standard."

So what happened? The allegations are that some factories that made products like Tylenol, Benadryl and Pepcid were not meeting Good Manufacturing Practices.

The suit alleges that because of the lack of quality control that several well-known products were recalled.

The products recalled include the following:

  • Benadryl
  • Pepcid
  • Tylenol
  • Mylanta
  • Rolaids
  • Zyrtec
  • St. Joseph Aspirin
  • Sudafed
  • Motrin

Landry says the noncompliance at the factories that made the products allegedly happened between 2009 and 2011 at McNeil manufacturing facilities.
