According to the Louisiana Department of Health, a nursing home in Lafayette has reported that a little over half of its residents have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Courtyard Manor Nursing Care Center reports that 37 of its 66 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 with an increase of 14 cases since June 1. The Lafayette nursing care center, located on Sidney Martin Road, says 9 staff members have also tested positive for coronavirus.

According to a report from KATC, a total of 3 residents have died as a result of the coronavirus.

Nursing home facilities like this one have been hotbeds for COVID-19 across the country, with 122 other adult residential facilities in the area reporting at least one case among staff or residents, this according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

A total of 630 cases and 91 deaths have been reported among those other facilities.
