Two women were carjacked in Lafayette this week.

Police were called out to the 100 block of Amy Street Wednesday night, and the two women said they were in the 1200 of the Northwest Evangeline Thruway when a white male suspect offered them money to give him a ride.

The women say as they were in the call they came to a stop sign on Amy Street, and the suspect told them to get out of the car or he would shoot them.

The women got out of the car, and the suspect drove away in their white 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier.  The suspect never did pull out a gun, but the women did as they were told.

Around 9 o'clock Thursday night, a Lafayette Police K-9 Unit stopped the victim's car on Irene Street.  The man driving the car at the time was 20-year-old David Fontenot, and police say this is the man who allegedly stole the car from the women.

Fontenot was charged with carjacking and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctonal Center.

They say the case remains under investigation.
