9/11 memorial

UPDATE: Lafayette Police say Salvador Perez has been arrested and charged with Criminal Damage to a Historic Building and Criminal Trespassing.     As we observe the 12 Anniversary of 9/11, someone has placed two planes crashing into the beams from the World Trade Center Towers in Downtown Lafayette.

The Lafayette Professional Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb event will take place Saturday, Sept. 7, at 9:11 a.m. at the Chase Towers on Jefferson Street. "This is not a race, but an opportunity to honor and remember the 343 FDNY members who selflessly gave their lives on 9-11-2001," according to the event's press release...

The Sept. 11 Memorial is set to open exactly 10 years and one day after the planes crashed into the World Trade Center. The 9/11 Memorial will open on September 12, after being dedicated during Sunday’s remembrance ceremony in New York City.
