Entergy is reporting a phone scam involving a demand for immediate payment has been reported again in South Louisiana.

Virtually the entire town of Kaplan was without electricity for several hours yesterday. Crews have repaired the problem and the power is now restored.

Cecilia Primary, Cecilia Junior High, and Arnaudville Middle Schools dismissed early today because of that power outage.

Thousands of Louisiana residents are already without power this morning because of Tropical Storm Barry.

The planned outage is part of a systems and equipment upgrade for the area.

Entergy will have workers on foot as they map and document existing infrastructure in Acadiana area neighborhoods beginning next week.

Crews are already out in the storm working to restore power to those that were affected.

One outage was planned, the other was not. Regardless, the lights and air conditioners are back on in Vermilion Parish.

Entergy says the outage is necessary to perform important work on power lines.

The planned outage is so repairs to a transmission line can be made.
